A watch with a logo, exactly as it will be
A watch with a company logo on it is a gift with a long life, and a purchase where the customer wants to see exactly what they get. The configurator shows it: dial, case, strap, logo and price.

The situation
On a watch every millimetre counts. The logo has to be in the right place on the dial, in the right proportion, on a surface that has hardly any room.
The customer buying 100 watches does not want a surprise: this is a gift that will be worn for years and therefore seen for years. And the seller does not want to call in a DTP operator for every request, because then every request for a proof becomes a small project with its own waiting time.
The challenge
Two things had to be right at once. The image on screen had to convince — a watch is an aesthetic purchase — and the drawing underneath had to match exactly what the engraver or printer does.
A configurator that looks good but is 1 millimetre off produces a complaint instead of an order. That makes this work different from an ordinary product photo with a logo on top: here the image is also the working drawing, and those two must not drift apart.
How we did it
There is a configurator tool of its own next to the sales environment: the customer places their logo, sees the result straight away and gets the price alongside. The proof matches production one to one.
In the sales environment the button Configure with Magic Logo sits on the product page, so the visitor does not have to take a detour via a form. That is a small detail with a large consequence: the step from interest to their own proof is one click and not a request someone has to pick up.
What runs today
The sales environment and the configurator tool both run on our servers, connected to the same catalogue. So what the visitor sees in the shop and what the configurator shows come from one source.
Two things still have to be settled before we say more: how many products are in the configurator, and whether the model with rotation is live. We will only add those once they are right.
The result
The customer sees their watch before buying, and inside sales no longer makes a working drawing for a request that is not an order yet. That is the same half hour that stays unpaid elsewhere in the trade, and it disappears here without the customer seeing less.
There are no figures on conversion or configurations per month, because they have not been measured. They are listed below as an open point, together with the question of who approves the quotation at this customer.
What the customer says about it
This quotation is a draft. We wrote it down the way we understood it from the conversations, so that it can be put to the customer. It only goes live once the customer has approved it word for word and the name and role are in place.
“On a watch the image has to be right to the millimetre. That is why we let the customer see it themselves.”
Three stories that belong with this one
The cases are connected: the same catalogue, the same technique rules and the same agent come back in several stories. These three sit closest to what you have just read.
Do you have a product that calls for a configurator?
Send us the product and the print areas it can carry. We put a configurator on it in which your customer sees the result with the price alongside, and whose proof matches your production one to one.
